Amy's infamous black dress
Here she is, wearing the now-infamous dress that turned the 22-year old Thai college student and aspiring actress into a worldwide phenomenon. Her school, Thammasat University, felt so humiliated about it that they ordered her to spend 15 days reading to blind kids, who will sadly may never truly understand what was the big deal. I think the only embarassment that university should be feeling is about their ass-backwards response to the whole thing. What do you think? Is Thailand's "cultural purity" that important?

For a country better spelled as 'Thigh-land' with capital 'Bang'-kok, this is absurd.
Thailand is known for prostitution, child pornography and sex tourism. There are villages in Thighland where the cottage industry is prostitution and yet the country thinks nothing of it.
The only reason Thailand over-reacted to Amy's rather tame dress is because it did not earn dollars for the country.
Maybe someone should sell videos of her and pay taxes for it. She'll be a national hero I tell ya.
What Thai people complained is not the dress itself, but the appropriate and the dignity to the place, the heroine monument, especially with nothing underneath. If the cerebration is normally held at the hotel or other entertaining halls, there may be nothing. The reason the university give her penalty because what she did seem unappropriate, disrespect to the honor award ceremony and place of monument. As a collage student of an honor and esteem university, her performance is an image of the university to public. You may think it is nonsense, but don't forget "WE ARE THAI".

Didn't in one her movies they showed her naked with trees and bushes covering her? If they showed that to the public, then I don't understand why they're making such a big deal about her dress.
I guess the reason her dress was such a big deal was because if she wasn't careful in that dress, she would've embrassed her university. She wore no underwear with the dress so if she had tripped or sat in a wrong position, there was nothing to prevent thousands of people from seeing her private parts. This would've made bad publicity for her university.
